The Dynamic by Scottish artist Alice Boyle shows two creatures close together, exploring the frustration that can arise when one person communicates openly while the other tends to avoid difficult conversations. The work reflects on how these opposing personalities can be drawn together, while questioning whether opposites really do stick together forever. The painting is created by building up layers of plaster and carving into the final surface, usually with the end of a paintbrush before it dries. Acrylic paint is then layered over the textured surface, allowing the image to gradually emerge.
