Perseverance by Scottish artist Alice Boyle explores the determination to keep going when progress feels slow and life seems full of obstacles. It is about finding the strength to push through setbacks, even when everything feels like it is holding you back, and trusting that small steps forward still count. The painting is created by building up layers of plaster and carving into the final surface, usually with the end of a paintbrush before it dries. Acrylic paint is then layered over the textured surface, allowing the image to gradually emerge.
