‘No Fool’

Acrylic and Plaster on Hardboard
81cm x 110cm (with frame)
71cm x 100cm
2022

The painting is created by building up layers of plaster and carving into the final surface, usually with the end of a paintbrush before it dries. Acrylic paint is then layered over the textured surface, allowing the image to gradually emerge.

Boyle created this painting as a reflection on resisting immediate judgement of people and situations. The work explores how quick assumptions and confirmation bias can prevent us from seeing deeper understanding, possibility and positivity.
