Lost by Edinburgh based artist Alice Boyle explores the overwhelming pain of being lost alongside the unbelievable relief of finding your way again. The teddy bear represents this feeling, as something that is often lost and found, while the work also reflects the ongoing journey of losing and finding yourself as you try to understand who you really are. The painting is created by building up layers of plaster and carving into the final surface, usually with the end of a paintbrush before it dries. Acrylic paint is then layered over the textured surface, allowing the image to gradually emerge.
