Let It Pass is a highly textured painting by Edinburgh based artist Alice Boyle. It explores the strength it takes not to react, allowing complicated and emotional feelings to pass without being consumed by them. The work is about weathering the storm, finding calm within yourself and feeling proud that you made it through. The painting is created by building up layers of plaster and carving into the final surface, usually with the end of a paintbrush before it dries. Acrylic paint is then layered over the textured surface, allowing the image to gradually emerge.
