A New Day by Edinburgh based artist Alice Boyle shows a sun giving a massage to a surreal two headed creature. This highly textured painting is about embracing each new day and making the most of it, whatever your circumstances. The painting is created by building up layers of plaster and carving into the final surface, usually with the end of a paintbrush before it dries. Acrylic paint is then layered over the textured surface, allowing the image to gradually emerge.
